Business case for flexibility from data centers

One of the most pressing challenges for data centers to become truly carbon-neutral is the ability to respond to increased or reduced green electricity production. Power flexibility solutions in data centers are key in achieving that in parallel with cross-industry collaboration, grid-friendly behaviour and driving data centers' participation in the power system and energy markets.

In this steering group, we look at the potential sources of power flexibility in the data center facilities: from cooling to backup power infrastructure. We work towards a business case that includes risk and investment evaluations for utilizing the systems for demand-response.
